The Jinshan Marina masterplan is the result of an international competition aimed at transforming approximately 720 hectares of the waterfront of the new city of Jinshan into a lively and multifunctional district with a strong tourist vocation. This ambitious project aims to become a crucial reference point for the Yangtze River Delta region, integrating various functions into a coherent and dynamic urban fabric.
Through a series of thematic workshops, the masterplan outlined a vision that exploits each area of the project, attributing a unique characterization to each. The existing beach has been revitalized following the model of the Italian Riviera, while the old fishing village has been transformed into a space for start-ups and cultural tourism. Between the open sea and the internal basin, the Lido emerges as a new garden city on the sea, enriched by a Yacht Club and a tourist port, both intended to host important nautical events.
The project also includes a Central Business and Business Center and a Research Center, which interface with adjacent industrial and commercial areas, promoting integrated and sustainable economic development.
On the landscape front, Jinshan Marina was conceived as a true green infrastructure, essential for structuring the new city and providing vital ecological connections. This green infrastructure uses nature as a tool to make the urban environment more resilient, addressing challenges such as environmental sustainability, global warming and weather protection. Among the various landscape elements, the seafront with green dunes offers protection from
floods and typhoons, while rain gardens and phytopurification areas contribute to the purification and natural absorption of rainwater. Wetlands and urban forestation play a crucial role in lowering CO2 levels and reducing urban heat islands.
In addition, the cycle/pedestrian network that runs through the park is complemented by a widespread museum system, which explores environmental, cultural and artistic themes, reinforcing the attractiveness of the district for both residents and visitors. This network of routes not only connects the different areas of the project but also fosters outdoor sports and leisure, making Jinshan Marina an ideal place to live, work and relax
