Output Area M5 new stations

The project to extend the M5 metro line, known as the “parks metro”, involves the construction of 11 new stations along a route of approximately 13 km that connects Milan to Monza. This intervention stands out for its holistic and sustainable approach, aimed at improving not only urban mobility but also the quality of public spaces and the surrounding environment.

The design of the project integrates a series of multifunctional interventions that embrace the creation of meeting spaces, the restoration of historic squares, the development of cycle paths, the creation of gardens, car parks and play areas. Each intervention is designed to blend harmoniously with the existing urban fabric, aiming at a visual reduction of the impact of emerging artefacts

and a mitigation of heat islands, particularly in correspondence with the road sections and squares involved.

The adoption of eco-sustainable and draining materials is a key aspect of the project, aimed at reducing soil sealing. Furthermore, the choice to plant native species reflects a commitment to reducing future maintenance and supporting local biodiversity. These strategies are integrated with advanced systems for rainwater management and the implementation of equipped green areas, thus contributing to the social and environmental well-being of the communities served.

The project not only connects some of the main green lungs of Milan, such as the Bosco in Città, the Parco Nord and the Parco di Monza, but also presents itself as a catalyst for an environmental, landscape and social improvement of the metropolitan area. The aim is to create a more welcoming and comfortable urban context, where nature and infrastructure coexist in perfect synergy.
