The requalification project of the ex-Salina Piccola of Taranto, with its integrated approach, deals with three principal aspects: the element of water the green area and the social context. Aiming to the mitigation of flood risk and to enhance an already humid area, the actions taken for the water aspect want to develope water management and to create a rich habitat for biodiversity.
It’s essential to naturalize the area, creating flowering meadows and new plantations in order to increase the green area, making quality space usable to relax and connect with nature, and contribute to the ecological resilience of the terrain.
Alongside, the project commits to enforce the social relevance of the park, creating paths for both pedestrians and bycycles and wood walkways enhancing the accessibility. Sports areas, playgrounds and leisure spaces, incuding social hortus areas and platforms for wildlife spotting, promote recreational and educational activities, stimulating community intrest.
These initiatives define the overall focus of the project as well as express the principles of a sustainable, inclusive and regenerative environment. Introducing these themes the target of the project becomes the realization of new natural habitats providing ecosystem services that will give back to both community and environment, transforming a leftover in a healthier space increasing life quality for everyone.
