The project to upgrade the Saronno-Seregno line stands out for its dedication to the conservation of biodiversity in a significantly fragmented area. The intervention involves the creation of ecological networks covering over 50,000 m2, aimed at strengthening connections between local mammal and amphibian populations to prevent the isolation of populations.
Central to this project are ecological connection works, which include the construction of elevated ecoducts for squirrels and underground ecological corridors for small fauna. These infrastructures were designed considering the specific habits and needs of the species present in the area, thus facilitating their safe and continuous movement through natural and urban environments.
The focus on forestation and landscaping is also important, with the creation of green areas that not only enhance urban aesthetics, but also function as vital habitats for different plant and animal species.
These strategies represent an exemplary model of integration between infrastructural development and environmental conservation, illustrating the studio’s commitment to implementing solutions that promote a sustainable balance between the built and natural environment.
