CITY’SCAPE Award 2026: joint second prize for the Corso Roma project in Cesano Maderno
We are proud to announce that the Corso Roma Retrofit and Urban Regeneration through Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems project in Cesano Maderno, submitted by PAN Associati, has received joint second prize in Category O – Landscape Green Company at the prestigious CITY’SCAPE Award 2026. The category celebrates innovation in products, processes, start-ups and patents.
The project was developed by Architect G. Selleri and Landscape Architect L. Baldini – PAN Associati, Engineers A. De Pin and V. Cerchier – ITS Engineering, and Geologist F. Valentini – Geotecno, incorporating Pontarolo’s Cupolex Radici (treebox) technology.
The award was presented on 18 September 2026 at Triennale Milano, during the international symposium organised by PAYSAGE – TOPSCAPE and the Italian National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists, exploring landscape as infrastructure and its role in urban and environmental transformation.
The intervention combines public space regeneration with sustainable rainwater management, transforming a largely impermeable urban street into green infrastructure that supports drainage. Bioretention areas and treebox systems capture, retain and filter rainwater, encouraging infiltration into the ground while providing favourable conditions for tree root growth.
By bringing together technological innovation and landscape design, the project contributes to climate adaptation, biodiversity and comfort in public spaces. The street becomes an active part of the urban ecosystem, with water and vegetation playing a central role.
