Landscape as Infrastructure
We were invited to take part in the conference “Landscape as Infrastructure,” promoted by PAYSAGE and the International Journal of Landscape Architecture TOPSCAPE, in collaboration with the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Milan and the Regional Federation of the Orders of Agronomists and Foresters of Lombardy.
The initiative offers a multidisciplinary reflection on the role of landscape design as an environmental, social, and cultural infrastructure shaping contemporary territorial transformations, ranging from the experience of Milano Cortina 2026 to historic landscapes, post-industrial sites, and care landscapes.
In this context, we were invited to present the Castellaneta Marina Dunes project as a case study capable of interpreting the coastal landscape not as a mere natural backdrop, but as a living infrastructural system. The project addresses environmental resilience, the protection of dune ecosystems, and sustainable public use, establishing a relationship between ecological preservation, risk management, and the quality of collective space.
