Presentation of Parco della Pace
The second edition of the Strait Biennial took place from September to December 2024, the international exhibition of Architecture, Landscape, Writing, Video and Photography of the Strait. On 13 and 14 December the architect. Gaetano Selleri for PAN Associati was invited to exhibit the Parco della Pace project as part of a program of meetings and guests called to observe and understand the Mediterranean and Italian territory.
The event took place on the theme of the Tre Linee d’Acqua(three water lines) together with that of the Città del Futuro(cities of the future), in mutual relationship with each other.
In a scenario that embraces local situations, new programs, the asperity of climatic conditions tending more and more to extremes, cities as a reflection of a heterogeneous society, architecture together with the landscape takes on an enormous task and hold the potential’ to encourage opportunities for aggregation for communities.
The presentation explored the innovative aspects of the project, in its aspects related to water regulation, urban forestation and social cohesion. An opportunity to reflect on the role of sustainable design in transforming urban spaces into active resources for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
