10th edition LILA Jury Award 2025 – Parco della Pace
Weare onored to announce that Parco della Pace, authored PAN Associati with EMF – Martì Franch, Franco Zagari, ITS Engineering, Aspro Studio has recived the prestigious LILA – Jury Award 2025, aknowledgement conferred annualy by Landezine International Landscape Award to projects that emerge for exellency in the field of architecture and landscape.
the international jury – composed by Maria Goula, Sotiria Kornaropoulou, François Vadepied, Martin Rein-Cano e Zaš Brezar – have awarded the projet because of its achievement of transforming an ex-airport area in a ecological machine, able to work simultaneously as a water infrastructure, as habitat for biodiversity and as a public open space.
The project was aknowledged for:
- the strenght with which it embraces the territorial scale, the engineering and the great movements of terrain, without ignoring the ecological aspects;
- the integration of hydrological processes into a resilient landscape, which functions as a rolling pond and transition space for new ecotones and habitats;
- the ability to generate a complex and readable spatial language at multiple scales, derived from the interaction between pre-existing geometries (the runway, military grids) and new hydraulic logics;
- the project opening that avoids a rigid definition of programs, offering a flexible framework that evolves over time, between cultural intervention and spontaneous naturalization processes.
Parco della Pace was valued as an example of “openness Engineered”, where great landscape infrastructures become engine of long-term ecological tranformation.
